Dr. John Thomas Voelker PhD

John Voelker az egyháztörténet-patrisztika teológusa, szakterülete a IV. századi, nyugat-latin nikaiai-trinitárius teológia, valamint a római rétor és tudós Marius Victorinus (az "Ágoston előtti Ágoston") életműve. Az Anglisztika Intézetben angol anyanyelvű oktatóként anglo-amerikai irodalom és kultúra, történelem és nyelvészet tárgyakat tanít, többek között az angol nyelv észak-amerikai dialektusairól szóló kiemelt kurzust.

A pécsi patrisztika-kutatók kollokviumának tagjaként került kapcsolatba a Pécsi Tudományegyetemmel és ezt követően csatlakozott a Bölcsészettudományi Kar Anglisztika Intézetéhez. Kutatási és publikációs tevékenységét az Oxfordi Egyetem patrisztika-csoportjának és Studia Patristica című folyóiratának keretein belül folytatja.

John Voelker is a theologian of Historical Theology-Patristics, specializing in Fourth Century, Western Latin Nicene-trinitarian theology, and the Roman rhetor-scholar Marius Victorinus (the ‘Augustine before Augustine…’). As a native speaker of English language at the Institute of English Studies, he teaches courses in British and American literature and culture, history and linguistics, including a featured course in North American dialects of English.

He came to be known at the University of Pécs as part of a colloquy of Patristic scholars at Pécs’ Center for Early Christian Studies; and thereafter joining the Humanities Faculty Institute of English Studies. He pursues research and publication through the University of Oxford Patristic group and their journal Studia Patristica.
