Description of the program

This program offers a comprehensive understanding of cultural history and cultural theory, enabling students to safeguard cultural heritage, communicate its values, and contribute to its preservation and sustainable management. In addition to theoretical and practical expertise in history, culture, cultural mediation, and adult education, professionals in this field require competencies in legal frameworks, project management, and marketing. The multidisciplinary nature of the programme addresses these needs by providing students with a comprehensive and integrated skill set.

Career opportunities

The programme equips students with the interdisciplinary skills needed to work in heritage institutions, public administration, cultural organisations, and the private sector. Students gain expertise in archaeological, built, material, intangible, and digital heritage, as well as in the methods and best practices for their preservation and communication.

MS Teams interview
The online interview takes approximately 10-20 minutes. During the interview, applicants will be asked to:
  • briefly present the cultural heritage of their own country or region, with particular attention to UNESCO World Heritage Sites;
  • discuss their motivation for applying to the programme;
  • outline their academic and professional plans and interests.
The main purpose of the interview is to assess the applicants’ English language proficiency, their ability to communicate and discuss relevant cultural topics, as well as their academic interests and motivation. The interview also provides an opportunity for applicants to share their plans and interests with the interviewers and to learn more about the program and its academic community.
Application requirements

The applicant has to submit the following documents by uploading them to the online application portal of the University of Pécs:

  • Certified and translated (if originals are not in English) copy of diploma and transcripts showing satisfactory completion of BA
  • Europass CV in English
  • Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) in 3000 to 3500 characters.
  • Copy of valid passport or national ID
  • Medical certificate, (please fill the document and attach the serologic test results)
    • vaccination card (showing that you are immunized against HEP B)
    • HEP A/B/C test*
    • HIV test*
    • Chest X-ray: Please attach the chest’s X-ray result (not the film!) in English/Hungarian! (not older than 3 months)
  • Transfer receipt of the EUR 140 application fee
  • Official copy of the following language exam certificates:  
  • Entrance Exam (personally or via Skype)

*Please note: tests have to be taken within a year!
