The research center is studying the conversations between children and their parents about positive and negative life events.
According to researchers and theorists studying the development of autobiographical memory, it is through shared remembrance that children learn how to organize their memories and how to situate themselves and their own perspectives within the sociocultural world. Parent-child dialogues also contribute to a child’s emotional development by providing a setting in which it is easy to negotiate emotions, clarify their meanings, and discuss the mental states associated with them.
The aim of our research is to examine the quality of discussions about emotional events and to explore the relationships between maternal and child personality functioning and emotional skills.
