Accordingly, the aim of the Multidisciplinary Research Group for War Studies is to create a research forum in which researchers representing various disciplines at the University of Pécs study different aspects of Hungarian and universal military history in a multidisciplinary way that meets the challenges of the modern age. To this end, alongside historians specialising in various fields and periods, an archaeologist, a political scientist, a literary scholar, a psychologist, an education researcher and a geopolitical analyst also take part in the work, and this list will be expanded in the future with any number of researchers with relevant expertise.

On the one hand, the Research Group's activities help significantly strengthen an existing centre outside Budapest for military history research, a field that is in many respects underrepresented in Hungarian academia. On the other hand, they contribute to renewing the field through a novel approach to the subject. The group also maintains close ties with the Southern Transdanubian Section of the Hungarian Military Science Society, offering a logical next step for students and doctoral candidates who have distinguished themselves there. In this way, it effectively supports the training of the next generation of researchers from the University of Pécs's own students (by encouraging participation in the Faculty and National Conferences of Scientific Students' Associations, KTDK and OTDK, and by supervising doctoral dissertations).

Given the professional expertise of the colleagues involved, the Research Group's work is likely to attract interest both in Hungarian and international academia. To this end, in addition to using traditional forums (conferences, journals, edited volumes, etc.), it considers it its task to share its research findings in an accessible form, so participation in public science communication is also among its key goals. This approach allows the research results to reach wider sections of society beyond the academic community, a task made considerably easier by the fact that military history has traditionally attracted strong public interest.

Kiemelt cél a meglévő szakmai kapcsolatokra és széleskörű intézményi beágyazottságra építve folytatni a szakdolgozati, tudományos diákköri és doktori témavezetői tevékenységet. A Kutatócsoport tagjainak irányítása mellett már számos hallgató nyújtott be ilyen típusú munkákat az elmúlt években, számuk remélhetőleg a jövőben is tovább fog növekedni.
