The Internet and the continuous, exponential growth in the use of smart devices have become a global trend both internationally and in our country. All of this raises numerous questions, such as the applicability of information and communication technology (ICT) tools in education, the positive effects of technological advancement on cognition and the nervous system, as well as the negative consequences of excessive use, and measures to promote prevention and cessation.

Science must address these and similar questions in order to identify practical applications and promote safe and mindful internet use. Furthermore, there is growing interest within the international scientific community in understanding the changes in the nervous system and fundamental cognition that result from technological advancements.

The goal of our research group, in close collaboration with several domestic research centers, is to map the positive and negative effects of internet addiction. In our comprehensive studies, we use state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging tools, behavioral tests, and questionnaires to examine the consequences of internet use and other behavioral addictions. We conduct this research with the participation of young adults and adolescents.
