2024. Spring

During the semester, the students of the Wlislocki Henrik Student Society, now in their fourth semester, are participating in the MTA-PTE "For Educational Opportunities!" Career Orientation Mentoring Program. During the semester, the students held three classroom sessions aimed at supporting students in making informed career guidance decisions.

2024. April 30. Online meeting

On 30 April 2024, the MTA.PTE "For Educational Opportunities!" Research Group held its regular monthly online meeting on 30.30.30. The focus of the meeting was on the mid-process, scientific measurement due in spring 2024.

 

2024. March 20. Online meeting

On 20 March 2024, the colleagues of the programme again participated in an online meeting, where, in addition to current institutional matters, they also planned the career guidance sessions of the Wlislocki Henrik Student Society. This external service will strengthen the social responsibility profile of the College and mobilise additional resources for the research and development programme. During the semester, the students will have two career guidance sessions for a total of three lessons.

 

2024. February 21. Online meeting

The MTA-PTE "For Educational Opportunities!" Mentor teachers from the P-PTE-PTE Research Group participated in an online meeting on 21.02.2024. The main topic of the meeting was peer mentoring, in which high school students from Gandhi High School mentor their seventh grade peers.

 

2024. January 27. Visiting the Gandhi High School

On 27 January 2024, our research team and students participating in the R&D programme visited the Gandhi High School. During the day together, the mentored children not only got to know the Gandhi High School, but also met their high school peer mentors. During the day, our mentor teachers gave a presentation on the most important issues that concern them and we also planned the semester ahead.

2023. December

From 15-17 December our participatory filmmaking workshop was held in Istvándi, organised by the Solutions for Security Foundation and the ELTE Minor Media Research Centre. The workshop was attended by 19 local young people, most of whom are students from the Darányi member school of the For Educational Opportunities Research Group. The workshop was facilitated by 14 undergraduate students for whom this field experience was a prerequisite for completing their course. During the programme, the young people shot 4 emotion films, 2 vision videos, 3 short videos and a video clip over the weekend.

2023. October-November

Sessions held by the Wlislocki Henrik Student Society

In October and November, the PTE Wlislocki Henrik Student Society visited all 10 public schools where the R&D programme is taking place. Twice (in October and November), the students held two two-hour long sessions on career guidance. The themes of the sessions helped them to make a more decisive decision about their further studies.

Online meeting

During the online meeting in October, the research team and mentor teachers worked on finalising the mentoring plans. They also agreed on the creation of a new student entry form and the completion of a follow-up assessment during the meeting. In addition, current issues were discussed: the schools and the external providers (UP Wlislocki Henrik Student Society and Gandhi High School) finalised the dates of the joint programmes.

Online meeting

The online meeting in September continued the launch of the semester in the online space. During the meeting, the mentor teachers reported on their experiences of the opening of the year and any changes in class and school size. Based on the needs of the students, the creation of mentoring work plans began.

On 29.08.2023, the "For Educational Opportunities!" career guidance mentoring programme team visited Dencsháza. During the school visit, the management of the institution reported on their good practices, which helped to learn about their school and to enrich the practices of other institutions. In addition to the school visit, the research team also visited the surrounding countryside and its heritage, including the Chapel of Mary in Szentegát.

Summary of the professional event

10:00-12:00 Evaluation of our school year 2022/2023

During the evaluation, the mentor teachers presented the memorable moments and obstacles of the first mentoring school year. In their summaries, the mentor teachers highlighted breakthrough experiences and incidents with the mentored students.

Representatives of the Gandhi Secondary School, as external service providers, summarized the cooperation between the Secondary School and the 10 schools during the past school year. The summary included the progress of the peer mentoring element of the programme and the expected programmes for the next academic year.

The experience of the visit to the Wlislocki Henrik Students Society was summarised by the members of the research team. The report confirmed that the visits of the Roma students will continue in the next academic year.

Prof. Dr. Anikó Fehérvári summarised the scientific results of the research and development programme based on the input and output data of the academic year.

During the workshop, mentor teachers in three groups summarised their experiences of family visits and family contact. In three workshops, the colleagues shared good practices and obstacles they encountered in communicating with families.

Events and career-guidance activities in the „For Educational Opportunities” Mentorprogramme

2022/2023, spring semester

During the last semester, students of the Wlislocki Henrik Student Society of the University of Pécs held self-development sessions for the students participating in the mentoring programme. Within this framework, 10 students visited the 10 institutions. The four sessions lasted a total of eight teaching hours and gradually brought the classes closer together with the students. The pupils always looked forward to the next visit of the students and actively participated in the activities. The students also reported that the sessions were successful, and they are looking forward to helping us in the autumn term. As a testament to the good relationship with the children, the students plan to continue mentoring in the primary schools they visited in the spring term.

On 18.06.2023, the students of the Wlislocki Henrik Student Society continued the planning of the programme, and the students summarised their experiences and lessons learned. Based on their feedback, they will organise the Student Society visits in a more targeted way. In the 2023/2024 academic year, the Student Society will continue to regularly visit students in the framework of the Student Society 's social responsibility activities.

During the online meeting, the research team and the schools recorded the dates of the output measurement and their technical details. Our external service provider, Gandhi High School, presented details of the peer mentoring programme that the High School students are implementing as part of the School Community Service programme.

During the workshop, the senior researchers of the research team presented the results of the input measurement of the academic year and the details of the output measurement at the end of the academic year. The meeting was attended by external service providers and the schedule of services was agreed. Mentor teachers presented their completed and ongoing mentoring activities.

Evangelical Roma Student Society of Pécs

The Evangelical Roma Student Society of Pécs (PERSZ-E) runs one of the service groups of the Career Guidance Mentoring Programme for Educational Opportunities. Under the leadership of Krisztián Kőszegi (PERSZ-E, mentor) and with the participation of Roma students, they visit the programme's institutions every six months. During the sessions, they pay special attention to the life path presentation and their practice is continuously updated according to the age and career guidance function as the programme progresses.

Wlislocki Henrik Student Society

The Wlislocki Henrik Student Society of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Pécs has received a grant for the academic year 2022/2023. In December 2022, 10 students received a grant to organise and run sessions in 10 institutions of the Career Guidance Mentoring Programme for Educational Opportunities.

The sessions were delivered with a common professional content. The students who came to the schools presented their life stories, drama education and a session adapted from elements of the Happiness Hour.

During the online meeting, the mentor teachers of the programme presented their mentoring activities based on their uploaded documents. During the workshop, the research team presented the extended external services. The Evangelical Roma College of Pécs presented its detailed service profile, the Gandhi Secondary School presented its community-based mentoring of high school peers, and finally the Henrik Wlislocki College presented the organisation and content of the career guidance events supported by the university.

During the workshop, the Research Team presented the details of the input measurement for the 10 mentor teachers of the participating institutions, which will take place in September 2022/2023. During the meeting, the mentor teachers, learning from each other's work, finalised their mentoring plans, which will be used to help students in the participating schools succeed in the next academic year.

During the online meeting, colleagues from the participating institutions were introduced to the Teams folder system, which serves as a horizontal learning interface for the R&D programme in the work of the group. The use of the familiarised interface and the sharing of good practices contribute to enabling teacher colleagues to get to know each other's work and to inspire their colleagues in developing mentoring plans.

Professional Weekend

25-27. February, 2022.

The colleagues of the Career Guidance Mentoring Programme for Educational Opportunities continued their work together in the form of a three-day weekend. During the weekend, teachers from the schools presented their good practices for successful career guidance of their students and the obstacles that their local primary schools face in their daily work. Roma youth's transition from school to work and Dr. Anikó Fehérvári's presentation on Early school leaving - Causes, consequences, prevention. As a result of the weekend, a roadmap for the next phase of the R&D programme was prepared.

First Meeting

08.December, 2021.

On 8 December 2021, the "For Educational Opportunities!" career guidance mentoring programme started its work. At the meeting on the Teams platform, Dr. Aranka Híves-Varga, head of the research team, welcomed the teacher colleagues of the 10 institutions participating in the programme. During the meeting, Dr Anikó Fehérvári, Deputy Research Manager, presented the social science context of early school leaving. During the meeting, Natália Jakab, deputy principal of Gandhi High School, the programme's contact person for secondary schools, and Krisztián Kőszegi, a colleague from the Evangelical Roma College of Pécs, introduced themselves. Finally, the teachers from the 10 institutions involved in the programme presented their schools, their pedagogical programmes and the difficulties of their region.
