Information about students’ thesis topic selection via Neptun

Dear Student,

Starting from the Spring semester of the current academic year, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at University of Pécs will handle students’ thesis topic selection via the Neptun unified education system.

Who is currently required to choose a thesis topic?

We kindly ask all students who are currently:

• at least in their 4th semester of a BA programme (except for BA in Psychology), or
• at least in their 2nd semester of an MA programme,

to review the list of thesis topics offered by their department and consider in which topic, and under the supervision of which instructor, they would like to prepare their thesis. Please also contact the instructor responsible for your preferred topic in advance, so that you can clarify important questions and expectations before officially submitting your application.

You will need to submit the result of this decision via Neptun between 20th and 26th April.  The earlier you complete this step, the higher the chance that your preferred supervisor/topic will still be available.

Due to the Neptun system outage on Friday, we are extending the deadline until midnight on Monday, April 27!!

Important! If you have already submitted your topic application on paper this semester, you are still required to repeat your selection in Neptun.

When and how can you choose a topic?

• The topic selection period will be open from 20th to 24th April, 2026.
• In Neptun, navigate to:
  • Studies / Degree thesis / Start new application
  • This menu will take you to the topic selection interface, where you will see the topics announced for your programme along with their respective supervisors. 

You may apply for one topic only. Please note that available slots fill up quickly, so it is advisable not to delay your application.
