LLL Research Centre

A kutatóközpont neve angolul
Lifelong Learning Kutatóközpont
The purpose of the research center

The key activities of the Lifelong Learning Research Centre at the Institute of Human Development and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Pécs (PTE BTK HFMI) are the analysis of lifelong learning (LLL) in higher education, of local and regional knowledge transfer and community learning, and of knowledge sharing, with a view to improving learning participation, learning outcomes and learning collaborations. An important research focus of the Centre is the development of local and regional LLL, and in this connection the innovation of the Pécs Learning City Programme, the interpretation of the role of higher education within it, and comparative analyses. Equally important are the ongoing studies in museum andragogy carried out in the Centre's environment and research into intergenerational and later-life learning. For this reason, the Centre takes part in numerous development programmes that aim to contribute to these goals.

One achievement is that over the past three years the PTE BTK LLL Research Centre has continued to represent the University of Pécs in eucen (European University Continuing Education Network), in the work of the Lifelong Learning Platform, and in the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA). It also has a partnership with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). These partnerships have contributed to our policy results in the field of LLL in higher education, for example organising the "eucen Policy Talks" LLL policy forum, producing LLL-related policy papers, and carrying out comparative analyses.

An outstanding research and development result is the Pécs Learning City Programme, established in 2016 with UNESCO support, together with the organisation of the annual Pécs Learning City Festival and, as part of it, international R&D workshops on the Learning City-Region theme. Further international progress in this area is our work on the Learning City-Region theme within Research Network 6 (RN6) of the ASEM LLL Hub.
