A pályázat támogatásával megrendezendő esemény két, önmagában is nemzetközi keretben, részvétellel megvalósuló konferencia integrációját valósítja meg. 2023-ban első alkalommal Szegeden, majd 2024-ben Debrecenben került megrendezésre a Medievisztikai Vándorkonferencia. Jellegéből adódóan minden évben más egyetem ad otthont a rendezvénynek. Így 2025-ben a Pécsi Tudományegyetem látja vendégül a résztvevőket. A konferencia elsősorban a doktori képzésben középkortörténeti tanulmányokat és kutatásokat folytató hallgatók számára kínál lehetőséget tudományos eredményeik megismertetésére. A résztvevők a hazai és a nemzetközi hallgatók előtt is nyitott, valamint lehetőséget teremt MA képzésben részt vevő hallgatók bemutatkozására is. Ennélfogva kiváló alkalom a tudományos utánpótlás számára, hogy a szakmai közönség előtt ismertessék eredményeiket, illetve hasznos, építő kritikát kaphassanak.
Ezt a hagyományt egészítjük ki 2025-ben a nemzetköziesítés erősítésével. A PTE immár mintegy 10 éve folytat együttműködést a Zágrábi Egyetem Horvát Tanulmányok Fakultásával. Ceepus Freemover pályázati keretben eddig 4 alkalommal szerveztek tudományos előadásokat és kísérő szemináriumokat hallgatók számára. Ezekből egy közös tanulmánykötet is megjelent. 2022-ben Pécsen (Negotiating Authorities, 7-8 April 2022), illetve 2024-ben pedig Zágrábban rendeztek közös konferenciát (Authority and Discipline, 16-17 May 2024). Az előbbi eseményen elhangzott előadások online és print változatban is megjelentek a pécsi Specimina Nova Pars Prima Sectio Mediaevalis XII. évfolyamában. E konferenciák megvalósítása már szélesebb nemzetközi együttműködéssel valósult meg: University of Mostar Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Catholic University of Zagreb, Croatian Institute of History /Zagreb/,Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, The Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography /Zagreb/.
A tervezett esemény kiváló lehetőséget teremt arra, hogy a magyar tudományos kutatási utánpótlás a nemzetközi keretbe minél jobban beágyazódhasson, hiszen az előadásokat mostani együttműködő partnereink (Horvátország, Bosznia) mellett, szlovák, román, szerb, szlovén kollégák bevonásával tervezzük megvalósítani. A II. Medievisztikai Vándorkonferencia keretében több Magyarországon doktori tanulmányokat folytató nemzetközi hallgató is tart előadást, és ezt a tendenciát a következő, 2025. évi konferencián is erősíteni kívánjuk. Horvát és boszniai partnereink jelezték, hogy erre a konferencián az ő doktori tanulmányokat folytató hallgatóik is részt tudnának venni. E mellett természetesen a hazai, medievisztikai és koraújkori doktori képzést biztosító intézmények mindegyike képviselteti magát (Pécsi Tudományegyetem, Debreceni Egyetem, Szegedi Tudományegyetem, Károli Gáspár Református Egyetem, Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem, Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem).

The event to be organised with the support of the grant will integrate two conferences, which are international in scope and with the participation of the participants. The first Wandering Conference of Medieval Studies was held in Szeged in 2023, followed by the second one in Debrecen in 2024. Due to its nature, each year a different university hosts the event. Thus, in 2025, the University of Pécs will host the participants. The conference is primarily an opportunity for doctoral students studying and researching medieval history to present their academic achievements. It is open to both national and international students, and will also provide an opportunity for MA students to present their research. It is therefore an excellent opportunity for young scientists to present their results to a professional audience and to receive useful and constructive criticism. We will complement this tradition in 2025 by strengthening internationalisation. The University of Pécs has been cooperating with the Faculty of Croatian Studies at the University of Zagreb for about 10 years. So far, 4 academic lectures and accompanying seminars for students have been organised under the Ceepus Freemover grant, and published. In 2022, a joint conference was held in Pécs (Negotiating Authorities, 7-8 April 2022) and in 2024 in Zagreb (Authority and Discipline, 16-17 May 2024). The presentations given at the former event were published in online and print versions in the XIIth volume of Specimina Nova Pars Prima Sectio Mediaevalis, Pécs. The realization of these conferences has been realized with a wider international cooperation.
The planned event will be an excellent opportunity for the new generation of Hungarian researchers to be better integrated into the international framework, as the lectures will be held with the participation of Slovak, Romanian, Serbian and Slovenian colleagues, in addition to our current partners (Croatia, Bosnia). Several international students pursuing doctoral studies in Hungary will also give lectures at the 2nd Wandering Conference of Medieval Studies, and we intend to strengthen this trend at the next conference in 2025. Our Croatian and Bosnian partners have indicated that their doctoral students could also participate in this conference. In addition, all the national institutions offering doctoral studies in medieval and early modern history (University of Pécs, University of Debrecen, University of Szeged, Károli Gáspár Reformed University, Eötvös Loránd University, Pázmány Péter Catholic University) will of course be represented.
