CALL FOR APPLICATIONS (2025/26)
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Pécs, invites applications for scholarships supporting outstanding academic and scientific performance by doctoral students. enrolled in English-language programs.
The scholarship recognizes:
- Active participation (oral or poster presentation as first author) at national or international scientific conferences as first author presenter or poster presenter,
- Publications in internationally indexed scientific journals.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold active doctoral student status at a doctoral school of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Pécs;

Be enrolled in either state-funded or self-financed doctoral programs.
Incomplete applications or those containing false information will not be considered. No opportunity for correction of missing documents is provided.
Categories
1. Conference Participation, as an Outstanding Academic and Scientific Achievement
Eligible activities:
- In-person conference presentations delivered between 1 September 2025 and 15 July 2026;
- Conferences held in Pécs are eligible only in exceptional cases (e.g., international scientific association events).
Evaluation criteria (max. 50 points; minimum required: 25):
- Previous publication and conference activity (20 points)
- Expected scientific impact of the conference (10 points)
- Scientific quality of the submitted abstract (20 points)
Scholarship amounts:
- · Domestic conference: HUF 100,000
- · International conference (held in hungary or neighboring country): HUF 150,000
- · Other international conference: HUF 200,000
Payment will be made in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code of Charges and Benefits (Annex 6 of the Statues of the University of Pécs)Student Fees and Allowances Regulations (TJSZ). The scholarship will be transferred to the HUF bank account registered in the academiceducation system.
Application Requirements
The application must include:
- Conference title, venue, date,
- Link to the conference website,
- Professional significance of the conference,
- Title and abstract of the presentation,
- Conference call and program,
- Applicant’s academic CV (including email contact),
- MTMT link
- Official proof /certificate of conference participation.
Applications must be submitted electronically via the designated online form
2. International Scientific Publications, as an Outstanding Academic and Scientific Achievement
It is possible to submit one published study per round to the call for applications.
Eligible publications must:
- Be published between 1 September 2025 and 15 July 2026
- Be indexed in Scopus;
- List the doctoral student as first author;
- Include full and correct affiliation with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Pécs;
- Contain fewer than 15 co-authors;
- Be at least 3,000 words in length;
- Not have received financial support from other faculty funding schemes;
- Not appear in journals listed on the Norwegian Register.
Editorials, letters, errata, notes, and similar non-research publications are not eligible.
Scholarship amounts:
- D1/Q1 journal (Scopus): HUF 300,000
- Q2 journal (Scopus): HUF 250,000

Scopus-indexed journal (Arts and Humanities): HUF 150,000

Application Submission
The application must include the publication details and the MTMT link. Applications must be submitted electronically via the designated online form.
Application Deadlines (both categories)
- First evaluation round: 25 March 2026, 12:00 (noon for publictaions 2025)
- Second evaluation round: 15 July 2026, 12:00 (noon for publication 2026)
No opportunity for submission of missing documents (no deficiency correction) is provided.
Evaluation Process
Applications will be evaluated by a professional committee appointed by the Dean, consisting of:
- One Vice-Dean,
- One core member of a doctoral school operating at the Faculty,
- One student delegate of the Doctoral Student Government (who has not submitted an application in this call),
- One staff member of the Doctoral Office (acting as secretary).
Decision Deadlines
- 30 March 2026 (for applications submitted by 25 March 2026)
- 20 July 2026 (for applications submitted by 15 July 2026)
Applicants will be notified of the decision by email.
Appeals against the decision may be submitted within fifteen days of notification (or, in the absence of formal notification, from the date the applicant becomes aware of the decision). Appeals will be reviewed by the Second-Level Academic Committee.
